Christian Zdanowicz is a glacier chemist with extensive experience in the retrieval and analysis of ice cores. He has worked on the reconstruction of Pleistocene climate records from the Barnes and Penny ice caps, Baffin Island, on snow and aerosol chemistry from Mount Logan, Yukon, and on the characterization of atmospheric particulates recovered from snow and ice cores. Recently, he has been involved in the construction of a record of heavy metal deposition from the Devon ice cap.
Chris is the director of the core-drilling program and overseer of the subsequent processing of the long cores. He shares responsibility for the analysis and interpretation of the ion chemistry of the long cores with Martin Sharp, and will participate with David Fisher in the regional synthesis component of the project.
